401 West End Ave

The New Century is a low-rise pre-war building it was built in 1901, converted to a cooperative in 1990. Originally, designed by William B. Franke the third floor was re-designed, in 1910 by J.M. Berlinger. It has an interesting combination of styles in both the interior plan and exterior facade. While the entrance has Roman detailing with the iron wrought doors, the decorative balconies in the step up lobby are from the Italian Renaissance period. The rounded exterior corners come from the French and the use of anthemia was taken from the greeks. A gorgeous building in a perfect location to call home.
