St Tropez - 340 East 64th Street
The St. Tropez was one of the first luxury condominiums in New york City. It was built in 1964 during a time when most buildings were going co-op and it ushered in a new generation of residential financing for homes. The building is about 15 stories tall, so not very tall by today's standards, and has a 44 foot swimming pool on top of its eastern wing.
Back in the day, there were not many tall buildings in the area, so the St. Tropez offered tremendous views of the surrounding area. Not so any more. Most new luxury condominiums are considerably higher in the 30-40 story range, with some newer buildings going up to 80 stories, if you can believe it. However, despite it's shortness in stature, the St. Tropez has a lot to offer in addition to the roof top swimming pool.
The Upper East Side location
